Almost three quarters of employees search for jobs online, according to the latest research. A report by one online recruitment firm has found that 70 per cent of people looking for employment in the UK use internet-based resources to get themselves noticed and hunt for their dream job. This equates to 14 million people searching for their next step up the career ladder and makes the internet an invaluable resource for employers looking to recruit new workers to their business. John Salt, a website director with one online recruitment firm, said: "These findings have confirmed what we believe about internet recruitment. "Where we used to talk about the viability of the internet we now talk about how online recruitment adds value. That's because it's the way that jobseekers want to find their next job." According to recent figures, job hunting is now the fifth most popular online pastime with many jobseekers using the wealth of information afforded by the internet to cross-reference jobs according to location, pay and a number of other criteria.
