Many graduates and other jobseekers are neglecting to add their hobbies and outside interests to their CVs, new research suggests. A survey by Yell.com indicates that 59 per cent of UK employers believe that knowing about a candidate's life outside work can help determine if they are a suitable fit for the job. However, it also revealed that one-third of jobseekers do not list their interests or hobbies on their CVs. Regarding those who do mention this information, 70 per cent claim that reading is a hobby, followed by 44 per cent who cite travelling and 40 per cent who are keen on the cinema. "Employers want to know if a candidate is going to fit in with the team. It's not just about qualifications and experience, but also personality," commented Claude Littner, who has advised Sir Alan Sugar. Yell is an international directories business which operates in the UK, US, Spain and Latin America.
