Avoid becoming a 'whingy worker' by heading online

Graduates are being warned to ensure they choose their first job carefully after it was revealed that Britons are the second biggest 'workplace whingers'.

According to a new study, only the French complain more about their jobs, whether it be regarding pay, holiday days or lack of flexible hours.

One of the best ways to avoid ending up in a job you do not enjoy is by regularly checking online graduate websites which offer the best there is in terms of job prospects and careers opportunities.

But it seems that many Brits are not taking advantage of the opportunities out there and instead, sticking it out in jobs they dislike.

The study by research group FDS found that one in three UK workers believed they did not get enough holidays, while one in five complained about the commute to the office.

Meanwhile, two in five workers said they were unsatisfied with the amount of pay they were receiving.

Charlotte Cornish, managing director of FDS, said: "After the French, British employees are the most likely to be dissatisfied with their work situation, despite their relative good fortune.

"It's also interesting to note that after France, Britain and Sweden, the world's biggest workplace whingers are Americans, despite having by far the highest levels of income relative to their cost of living."
