Commercial media 'attracting graduates'

Commercial media 'attracting graduates' Businesses in the commercial media sector are striving to attract more graduates to the industry, it has been claimed.

Clare Turner, sales director at Pearl and Dean, told Brand Republic that her organisation is implementing several strategies to get more people to apply for vacancies at the company.

"Our idea is to provide media graduates with an introduction to cinema and how it fits in the media landscape. As well as sessions here, we plan to do a roadshow in 2009 to ensure the grads of today turn into the savvy communications planners and buyers of tomorrow," she remarked.

Additionally, Lisa Ashworth, talent director at ZenithOptimedia, added that her company is looking to increase its graduate intake by offering them more information on the firm through the internet.

Elsewhere, Recruiter magazine recently reported that an increase in budget retail shops such as Poundland has resulted in several graduate management jobs becoming available.
