New data has shown that there was a drop in the number of female graduates recruited by employers last year. The Winter Review 2008 from the Association of Graduate Recruiters (AGR) has shown a 3.5 per cent decrease in the number of women graduates taken on, reports Women in Technology. Just 39.1 per cent of all graduates recruited were female which is substantially less than the amount that graduated, continues the report. The AGR has claimed that this could be due to the fact that female-heavy careers such as medicine and teaching were not covered in the research. A statement from the AGR said: "This does not, however, account for the 3.5 per cent fall last year and further research would have to be undertaken to establish the causes." Founded in 1968, the AGR is an independent, not-for-profit organisation dedicated to supporting employers in all aspects of graduate recruitment.
