The level of dedication which an employee has to their employer, also known as organisational commitment, is linked to a nation's overall happiness, new research suggests. Cass Business School in the City of London studied organisational commitment in 49 countries and found that it varied depending on how "extrovert" or "neurotic" the nation's population was, onrec.com reports. Graduates and other employees in countries such as Brazil, Israel and Cyprus were found to have the highest level of commitment - as well as boasting an extrovert, happy population. At the other end of the spectrum, Russia, Japan and Hong Kong were revealed to have lower levels of commitment, while demonstrating more negative tendencies, such as anxiety. Study leader Dr Garry Gelade said that the findings could be used by UK organisations which employ international staff. "This study will have practical implications for organisations seeking to maximise commitment levels among an eclectic workforce," he said. A SkillSoft study recently indicated that UK workers are seeking positive interpersonal relationships from their jobs.
