New research has found that employers aim to concentrate on making their staff work more efficiently in 2008. The study, conducted by recruitment firm Manpower, involved some 2,033 employers and found that workforce productivity was the top priority for human resources (HR) this year, reports Personneltoday. Productivity has significantly increased in priority, standing at just fourth positon in 2007, the report continues. Other priorities for HR include absence management, succession planning and wage inflation, the report says. Commenting on the issue, "Mark Cahill, managing director of Manpower UK, said: "Improving labour force productivity and maximising efficiency is currently top of the company health-check agenda." A separate survey by outsourcing provider Northgate HR found that workplace productivity was the top priority for around 75 per cent of employers, according to the report.
