Employers 'should provide clarity about graduate requirements'

Employers 'should provide clarity about graduate requirements' Employers should ensure they make it clear what they require from graduates if they want to acquire the skills best-suited to their business, it has been claimed.

Aaron Porter, vice-president of the National Union of Students (NUS), made the comments at the conference of the Association of Graduate Recruiters in Newport in response to findings from the recent GradFacts survey.

Companies should strive towards "being clearer to graduates about what you want from them and how they should go about getting it if they don't have it already", according to Mr Porter.

According to Jenny Owen, head of the careers service at King's College London, information from job candidates and recruiters is needed to be able to better ascertain the expectations of both parties.

The NUS has recently called for single strategic documents to be implemented which will bring together all requirements of educational institutions.
