More employers now offer their staff flexible working options, according to newly released government figures. The Department for Business, Enterprise and Regulatory Reform surveyed nearly 1,500 British workplaces and revealed 95 per cent now offer their workers some form of flexibility. It claimed that British employers could save as much as £42 million a year in recruitment costs if they offered flexible hours as they could then recruit working parents. Minister for employment relations Pat McFadden said: "More people want to balance work with family and lifestyle and more employers are increasingly recognising that flexibility helps retain good staff." The study found that flexible hours were one of the most prized benefits offered to staff and helped retain loyal workers. Last month, a spokeswoman for the International Stress Management Association claimed that flexible working helped workers reduce stress and could increase productivity. It suggested that different workers are most productive at different times and that it made sense to let staff work when they are at their peak time.
