Graduate recruitment 'should take an individualised approach'

Organisations have been encouraged to take an individualised approach when seeking to hire graduates.

Employment expert SHL Group claims that companies which customise their graduate recruitment process benefit in the long-term, Online Recruitment reports.

A diverse workforce, made up of people who recognise their own particular contributions and talents, leads to higher rates of satisfaction and retainment, the firm claims.

"Graduate programmes may be large in volume depending on the organisation, but recruiters must bear in mind that they are dealing with individuals, not identikits," said SHL head psychologist James Bywater, according to the news provider.

"By taking steps to customise graduate intake process to some extent for each individual, recruiters are likely to find that they are grasping the substance of the people they recruit, not just their image."

A recent study by KPMG and the Recruitment and Employment Confederation uncovered that recruiting talented people is the largest challenge for UK firms at the present time.
