Graduates 'want to make their mark'

Graduates that are currently looking to enter the job market are eager to make a positive contribution to society, according to a managing director of a specialist coaching company.

Soraya Shaw, who also founded Springboard Coaching, told onrec.com that graduates are "looking for a chance to make a difference through their professional life" and as such are demonstrating a preference for roles that can benefit the environment or charitable causes.

Ms Shaw added that the opportunity for employees to create diversity within an organisation is an important consideration for new recruits.

However, Springboard Coaching's managing director does state that a position's salary is an important consideration for some job-hunters, due to debt generated while at university.

Springboard Coaching provides a range of services designed for both for individuals and commercial organisations.

These include executive mentoring and coaching, research, leadership skills and programmes on ethics and "razor-sharp" thinking.
