Christmas is the ideal time for employers to show their appreciation for all the hard work put in by employees, it has been claimed. According to Mike Petrook, public affairs manager at the Chartered Management Institute, Christmas parties are an effective way to recognise such efforts, as well as having the ability to focus workers on the coming year. "It's vital to say that: 'we understand the pressure you are under and we appreciate the work that you are putting in'," he remarked. He added that this was particularly important at present, given the unstable nature of the economy and jobs market. According to the Chartered Management Institute's annual Christmas Outlook survey, some 70 per cent of employers in the health sector will host parties in 2008.
