The hospitality sector should not be overly affected by the credit crunch and still has opportunities for graduate jobs, an expert has said. Hotel chain Travelodge recently announced it is planning to create 450 new jobs by opening 22 new establishments across the UK from now until Christmas. Paula Rogers, managing director at hospitality staffing firm Admiral, said the expansion is a good indication that business remains healthy in the hospitality sector. Ms Rogers said it was "brilliant" that the firm was continuing with its plans despite the current economic downturn. "I think it is a message to say it is business as usual. People will still need to stay in hotels for business and pleasure. The world is not coming to a standstill," she told Recruiter. Travelodge currently owns 350 hotels in the UK, but aims to increase this number to 1,000 by 2020, which could be good news for graduates considering the sector.
