HR professionals are in increasing demand in the City, despite uncertainty in the jobs market, it has been claimed. Daniel Naftalin, partner in the employment group at law firm Mishcon de Reya, noted that HR staff are always required, as they manage redundancies and employment, reports Personnel Today. "There is still considerable demand for HR expertise in the financial services sector," he said. Furthermore, ClickAJob marketing manager Anders Jensen said City jobs can actually create employment opportunities elsewhere. "It's not just HR people," he says. "With the world-wide skills shortage, companies are crying out for high-powered professional people who are computer literate and well-accustomed to coping with multiple disciplines." "Never mind redundancies, most City career people are highly motivated self- starters who are ready to take on anything," he continues. He went on to say that job hunters willing to look beyond the finance setor will be "snapped up in seconds".
