Irrelevant responses from candidates are the biggest problem facing recruiters today, according to new research. A new study by Broadbean Technology discovered that irrelevant applications are closely followed by small response and candidates applying for positions when they cannot work in the UK as grievances for recruiters. Emma Cuffaro, head of account management at Broadbean, said it is imperative that employers make sure adverts are well written. "Clients that use Aplitrak to measure the success of their campaigns notice huge differences in relevancy of responses between good and bad adverts. In such a competitive industry there is no room for apathy; writing a two liner or just copying a job spec just won't do," she said. Adrian McDonagh, Director at Easy Web Recruitment, noted that recruiters need to produce adverts that are easy to read, as internet job hunters will look at "dozens of jobs online". "For example, if the role has extensive travel, mention it in the advert. It will mean some candidates don't apply, but only the unsuitable ones," he explained.
