A recent survey has shown that 67 per cent of job seekers would be directly influenced by their potential employer's attitude to the environment. The survey carried out by research, science and academic recruitment firm jobs.ac.uk also states that a further 45 per cent would be "strongly influenced" by an employer's environmental policy when applying for a job. Andrew Gordon, director of jobs.ac.uk, comments: "Green issues are high in the public conscience and employers are increasingly expected not only to mitigate against their environmental impact through appropriate green programmes or policies, but to make a tangible, positive contribution to improving the environment." Access to an organisation's corporate, social and environmental responsibility via their website is now integral to a potential employee's decision, the site has reported. In related news, a survey carried out by Datamonitor and YouGov at the end of 2007 found that 56 per cent of businesses think they are taking significant steps toward a more environmentally friendly existence, according to Smart Planet website.
