Jobseekers 'internet savvy'

Jobseekers 'internet savvy' Today's job hunters are more internet savvy than ever, with the majority of them now using it as their chief resource for employment searches and applications.

New research by Taleo has indicated that jobseekers who search for work opportunities via the web account for 43 per cent of applicants.

However, 38 per cent were still found to be traditional jobseekers, making use of methods such as recruitment agencies and personal contacts, while only 19 per cent still prefer to use the post.

Senior vice-president for Taleo Neil Hudspith commented: "Online search and application techniques are now the most prevalent methods with both active and passive candidates, which suggests that candidates are proactively taking charge of their search for employment."

ClickAJob chief executive Yngve Traberg pointed out that it is about finding the optimum match between recruiter and jobseeker.

"The wider both employers and job-seekers can choose, the better their chances of finding exactly the right match," he said.
