An analysis of over 4,000 IT positions has revealed that professionals working in London are earning significantly more than those in the south-east, which could be welcome news for graduates looking to work in the capital. The figures, from CV Screen, show that salaries in London have increased by 4.3 per cent in the last 12 months, as opposed to a 3.4 per cent increase in the south-east. An IT professional working in a permanent position in London can now expect to be earning an average salary of £38, 577. CV Screen's account manager for London, Alex Lawson comments: "There is obviously a premium attributed to working in London and the survey shows that salaries are 15 per cent higher than those in the rest of the south-east region." He went on to say that, although many people were predicting a gloomy economic year for 2008, they are still experiencing "very high demand" for IT professionals - proving that the market is in good health.
