Male employees are 'favoured in the workplace'

Male employees are 'favoured in the workplace' Women feel increasingly discriminated in the workplace, a new study has found.

The survey, undertaken by employment lawyers Peninsula, has found that male employees are preferred within places of work.

Female job prospects could be affected with 86 per cent of respondents claiming that men are favoured in the workplace.

Also, 46 per cent believed that men have used their gender to gain an edge over female workers and 74 per cent of respondents have experienced a form of discrimination within the workplace.

Peter Done, managing director of Peninsula, spoke of his disbelief that such prejudice exists when "record tribunal payouts" are being paid out in recent sexual discrimination cases.

"Company bosses are the first from of prevention when it comes to preventing sexual discrimination. All workers should be treated equally".

A recent study from TipTopJob.com found that over 70 per cent of 1,000 women questioned felt that they had faced discrimination at work if they were pregnant or had a child, reports trainingzone.co.uk.
