There is more to staff recruitment and retention than offering high salaries, according to an employment specialist. Steve McCulloch, business manager at Thorpe Molloy Recruitment, has suggested that there are a number of more modern measures which can be implemented by employers looking to hold on to their valuable recruits. He claims that 21st century ideas like flexible working, remote working and green office practices are good ways of enhancing worker satisfaction and creating a more harmonious environment for employees. Mr McCulloch told the website Online Recruitment: "Studies show that whilst money is a motivator it is only one consideration for a candidate looking to make a career move. "Companies will need to look at a total reward package in order to attract fresh talent - so if you are missing out on staff, chances are that unless you are well below the expected salary range, there could be other factors you are missing." Mr McCulloch added that interest-free loans can also be a good way of attracting graduates as they can use the money to help pay of tuition fees and student loans.
