Rip-off interview firm closed down

Rip-off interview firm closed down A recruitment firm which was claiming to sell job interviews to job hunters from the developing world has been shut down by the High Court in Manchester, which may be useful information for graduates.

The decision followed an examination by the Companies Investigation Branch (CIB) of the government-backed Insolvency Service.

Consequently, the probe discovered that Data Jobs Limited operated through a website which mainly targeted Kenyan nationals claiming it could provide job interviews for a small fee.

Applicants were being duped by 'online interviews', which informed them they would need to pay £38 to acquire the necessary tools to secure the job.

It transpired that these 'tools' were irrelevant CDs or other similar information which was readily available on the internet for free.

The firm also refused to disclose its sifting procedures, as well as overcharging for subsequent post and packaging costs.

Furthermore, the CIB said it had concerns about the extent to which the personal information would be safeguarded by the company.
