Scottish graduates 'optimistic'

Scottish graduates 'optimistic' Graduates in Scotland remain optimistic about their employment prospects, it has been reported.

A recent jobs fair indicated that a high proportion of university leavers do not think they will encounter too many problems when looking for work.

Speaking to the BBC, Alan Porteous, a risk management student at Glasgow Caledonian University, said: "Even in the current climate there will be a need for more people in this area. That's where the banks ran into trouble."

Furthermore, civil engineering students pointed out that there are still many graduate positions available in the construction sector, despite the economic downturn.

The London School of Economics recently claimed that attaining a degree from one of the UK's leading universities can significantly boost a graduate's earning power.

According to the research, people with a degree from an institution in the top 25 per cent can expect to earn around ten to 16 per cent more than those who graduate from one in the lowest quarter.
