When looking to fill their vacancies, employers are most concerned with finding "highly skilled" candidates during the recruitment process, it has been claimed. Stan Knights, managing director of Pitman Training Group, said that skills in such areas as IT and business can make graduates and other jobseekers more attractive to organisations. He said that his company hears from employers who are looking for these types of candidates "on a daily basis". "It is fair to say that the majority of them want people who can add immediate value to their business. "If a candidate has a comprehensive range of IT or business-focused skills, they will be an attractive prospect for a potential employer." A recent survey from the Recruitment and Employment Confederation and KPMG reported that the UK is currently facing a skills shortage. Michael Carter, people services partner at KPMG, suggested that companies grow more "creative" in their recruitment strategies to help respond to this shortage.
