Employers in the UK are positive about their future hiring plans to the end of the year, according to new figures. A quarterly study of hiring trends covering the period from October to December 2007 found that the outlook for recruitment is in line with the average for the past eleven quarters. Some 18 per cent of organisations anticipate taking on more staff, while 75 per cent plan to make no changes - which results in a positive score of 13 points on Manpower's Employment Outlook Survey. "The labour market remains robust and stable: employers in eight of the nine industry sectors surveyed plan to take on more staff this quarter and nearly one in five businesses will be recruiting more employees by the end of the year," commented Mark Cahill, managing director of Manpower UK. "However, many employers continue to struggle to find the right staff and so having the right retention and recruitment strategies in place has never been more important." The Monster Employment Index UK recently revealed an increase in online job opportunities during August.
