Olympic gold medal-winner Sir Chris Hoy has addressed University of St Andrews students concerned about their graduate job prospects, telling them to 'follow their dreams'. After being conferred with an honorary doctorate, Sir Chris, who won three top medals for cycling at the Beijing Olympics last year, encouraged those about to enter the world of graduate jobs to be confident about their skills. He said: "No matter how crazy the dream is, don't let people put you down or make you think it's not possible - because it is. If you work hard enough, anything is." The cyclist told the graduate job hopefuls at their end of degree ceremony that the rest of their lives are in front of them and they should make of it what they want. Sean O'Connor, director of Gradcracker.com, recently told New Civil Engineer that media reports have been "exaggerated" and students should not give up looking for a graduate job.
