The Co-operative supermarket chain and the National Council for Work Experience (NCWE) have teamed up to provide a new graduate scheme in the retail sector. Using its new Quality Mark, the NCWE has assessed the standards of the scheme and how far it will go in aiding graduate job hunters to find work, helping the Co-operative to meet its aims. According to Personnel Today, commitment, recruitment and evaluation are all monitored under the Quality Mark criteria, and successful applicants can be guaranteed improved graduate job prospects. Hannah Slaney, graduate programme manager at the Co-operative Group, told the news provider: "Despite the recession, we have a strong desire to continue to develop and recruit young people, and are delighted to work with the NCWE to break new ground." The Times recently placed fellow supermarket Aldi in third place in its new Top 100 Graduate Employers list, just behind PricewaterhouseCoopers and Deloitte.
