The economic downturn has led to an increasing number of graduates seeking employment in the IT sector, according to new research. ITjobsforgraduates.com notes that the surge in applications for such jobs is largely due to the belief that the industry is relatively sheltered from the recession. Commenting on the findings, Teresa Sperti, head of marketing at the company, said: "I believe that many of today's college leavers see a greater chance of employment within the IT sector, particularly in light of the current economic climate." She added that this development provides a "real opportunity" for the sector to secure and nurture new talent, which may be of note to graduates considering a career in the industry. According to the group, some 61 per cent of graduates expect to find a job which pays between £18,000 and £26,000.
