The economic downturn has led to an increasing
number of graduates seeking employment in the IT sector, according
to new research.
ITjobsforgraduates.com notes that the surge in applications for
such jobs is largely due to the belief that the industry is
relatively sheltered from the recession.
Commenting on the findings, Teresa Sperti, head of marketing at the
company, said: "I believe that many of today's college leavers see
a greater chance of employment within the IT sector, particularly
in light of the current economic climate."
She added that this development provides a "real opportunity" for
the sector to secure and nurture new talent, which may be of note
to graduates considering a career in the industry.
According to the group, some 61 per cent of graduates expect to
find a job which pays between £18,000 and £26,000.
In related news, a recent study conducted by
womenintechnology.co.uk indicated that women working in the IT
sector are generally positive about their careers.
