Healthy lifestyle 'saves pounds'

Healthy lifestyle 'saves pounds' Students and graduate workers can stay in shape and save money by eating more healthily, it has been claimed.

Dr Rebecca Small, assistant medical director for Bupa UK Health Insurance, points out that those living on a tight budget can make substantial savings by choosing the right foods.

A diet based more on fruit and vegetables will not only maintain good health, but can also reduce food expenditure, she notes.

She recommends that workers make basic lifestyle changes such as taking regular exercise, quitting smoking and ensuring they get sufficient sleep.

A recent health survey conducted by Bupa indicated that 27 per cent of men and 31 per cent of women met the recommended guidelines of eating five or more portions of fruit and vegetables per day.

In other graduate news, minister for transport Lord Andrew Adonis recently said the economic downturn means employers can now recruit from a larger pool of job candidates.
