Female graduates 'could find work in the construction industry'

Female graduates 'could find work in the construction industry' Graduate job prospects for women looking to go into the construction sector are good, according to a representative for Construction Training London (CTL).

Speaking at the Careers and Jobs Live event in the capital city, Graham Arnold, centre manager for CTL, said that current initiatives will lead to more women being employed in the industry.

While the sector has a reputation for being a man's occupation, Mr Arnold said that this was encouraging more firms to actively seek out women for roles.

He said that "some of the large companies will immediately look for women tradespeople and so therefore prospects are good for women who are in the construction industry", although he admitted: "There is still this macho image … Sadly it is wrong but still puts off a lot of women from training."

Maggie Berry, the director of womenintechnology.co.uk, recently said that the lack of female graduates looking to jobs in technology was creating a deficit of women in the sector.
