Government announces funding for graduate social care training

Government announces funding for graduate social care training With new funding announced today, graduates from any course could receive training in social care in order to improve services in the UK in the wake of the Baby P scandal.

The £58 million measure was announced today (May 6th) by children's secretary Ed Balls and is aimed to go towards sponsoring 200 university leavers from any academic background to receive training for graduate social care jobs.

A practice-based social work Master's course is also being developed as part of the new measures, which will help train those looking for graduate social care jobs to a high standard of service.

Mr Balls said: "Our ambition is for social work to be a high quality profession, with the confidence and support of the public, but to do this we must give social workers the training and support they need to develop and become a confident workforce."

Public sector employment, including graduate social care jobs, was recently pointed out by University of Lincoln career advisor Paul Charman as being beneficial to all graduates due to the acquisition of transferable skills, according to the Linc.
