A graduate employer in the north-east has added new skills to its workforce by taking on a degree-holder from Northumbria University. SMC Pharma recruited 24-year-old Michael Johnson, who has gained a degree in applied biology, in order to widen the scope of talent the company holds and to help out with the current graduate job shortage. According to bdaily, the firm believes that Johnson will add to the team, working with the microbiology section on completing a new set of contracts in its state-of-the-art facilities and testing products. Shirley Dann, managing director of SCM Pharma, told the news provider: "As we continue to grow the company, we feel it is essential to have a good mix of skills within the business. Our bright new graduate will hopefully bring some fresh ideas." Simon Brown, former graduate now working for Business Link recently told nebusiness.co.uk that employers should be looking to take advantage of graduate talent by opening up positions to them.
