The graduate recruitment industry is proving resilient to the effects of the economic downturn, an expert has claimed. Carl Gilleard of the Association of Graduate Recruiters (AGR) recently revealed the results of a study he conducted of its members. The research indicated that 33 per cent of graduate recruiters expect to take on the same number of graduates this year as they did last year. Furthermore, 26 per cent said they intended to recruit slightly more in 2009, while not one of those surveyed said their company would be stopping graduate recruitment altogether. A recent report from High Fliers also found that a quarter of employers are planning to take on more graduate recruits next year than they have this year, while half said they will employ roughly the same amount. ITjobsforgraduates.com recently noted that the economic downturn has led to an increasing number of graduates seeking employment in the IT sector.
