University leavers yet to find a graduate job may be struggling to stand out from the crowd in the competitive market as well as worrying about finances, but one expert has offered some advice. Writing in the Daily Telegraph, Emma Simon said that job hunters should apply for a graduate account to take advantage of interest-free overdrafts as well as prioritising the repayment of any existing debts from credit cards. Being proactive is also recommended – applying for internships and working or volunteer placements, as well as polishing your CV and interview techniques. Ms Simon added: "Drop into your university careers service. See an adviser and use their library. Most have information on potential employers and work placements." Those strapped for cash can still make a good impression in the interview room, fashion and beauty specialist Nicky Hambleton-Jones recently said, explaining that a smart look can be achieved on a budget.
