The key to landing a graduate job in the current economic climate is to have a CV that stands out from the crowd, according to a group of young people seeking employment. The Guardian has followed three university leavers on their search for a job, finding that work experience has improved their CVs and employment prospects. Arts graduate Rebecca Burns said that her resume is looking "rosier" since she left university, thanks to work experience in the media sector that helped her get an interview. Former finance student Henry Sparling also added that in hindsight he would have tried to improve his CV before he graduated. "Learning skills and gaining experience are vital pre- and post-graduation, but a strong CV is the most important thing come the end of university life because that is the key you need to even get an interview," he told the newspaper. University leavers struggling to find a graduate job in the current climate must avoid putting lies on applications, CV consultancy firm The Write Stuff recently advised.
