Employers commit to graduate jobs at awards show

Employers commit to graduates at awards show Various employers attending the fifth annual National Graduate Recruitment Awards this Thursday (May 21st) have vowed to carry on providing job opportunities for university leavers during the recession.

Winner of the best student marketing campaign award, PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC), reminded employers of the importance of providing graduate jobs in order to retain the skills necessary to face competition when the economic upturn comes.

According to the Guardian, IBM, the computing giant which won the prestigious best graduate employer award, also said that investing in university leavers is a good idea.

Jenny Taylor, graduate programme manager at the firm, told the newspaper: "The investment we make in graduates will continue and remain a strong focus for the longer term. The top graduates are always going to have a choice and we want to attract them to IBM."

PwC has continued its promised graduate recruitment with 125 jobs offered already this year, with 800 more planned before the end of 2009.
