Big four supermarket chain Sainsbury's will create 100 positions when its new Andersonstown branch opens in Northern Ireland, which may be of interest to those looking for graduate jobs in the area. The retail firm's new store will be the largest in Northern Ireland when it launches later in the summer, adding to the 2,600 people already employed by Sainsbury's in the area. Positions will be available in the store for those seeking jobs in the current economic climate, including graduates, and the company has said that the move will benefit the economy in Belfast and the surrounding areas. David Davidson, regional operations manager for Sainsbury's in Northern Ireland, said: "Sainsbury's is very excited at the prospect of opening our west Belfast store, and in the current economic climate I know that the additional jobs take on an extra significance." After the recent announcement of Tesco's £3.13 billion pre-tax profits for 2008, the head of retail at chartered accountants BDO Stoy Hayward said that there could be an opportunity for those looking for graduate jobs at the moment to find employment with the company.
