People looking for graduate jobs could have two Facebook profiles, one for their friends to see and one for prospective employers, it has been suggested. According to Brandi Milton, coordinator of corporative education at the Florida A&M University Career Centre in the US, firms are increasingly using social networking sites to check up on applicants and form an opinion of their personalities. She stated that job hunters can use such sites to their advantage by detailing information such as volunteer work. "It might help to have two profiles; one for your close friends and a professional page. Use the privacy and filter options to control who can see your page or comment," Ms Milton said. It was recently asserted by Chris Morrall, managing director of Talent Transition, that people looking for graduate jobs this summer should cast their nets wide and look at a variety of firms, including small businesses and charities.
