Employment bodies should do more to help those leaving university to seek out graduate jobs opportunities, it has been claimed. According to Neil Carberry, head of employment policy at the Confederation of British Industry (CBI), this is particularly important in the current economic climate, as there may be some challenges for those coming out of education into the jobs market. He went on to explain that several issues need to be addressed to ensure people find the right roles for them. "Let's be clear – rising unemployment is only a difference between the number of people losing jobs and gaining jobs," he advised. "There are still plenty of vacancies in the labour market. The important thing is maintaining skills and maintaining employability and people's connection with the labour market." Sonja Stockton, head of recruitment at PricewaterhouseCoopers, recently claimed that graduates looking to a route into a financial career should not be afraid to start up at a firm outside London.
