Those looking for a graduate job in the current economic conditions need to hone their CV, according to one industry figure. Tom Hadley, director of external relations at the Recruitment and Employment Confederation, was commenting on recent Sutton Trust research, which found that 77 per cent of secondary school students have plans to gain a degree. The figure shows how, although university education is a requirement for many jobs, employers will be looking more at extra qualities that candidates may bring to the graduate job table, according to Mr Hadley. He added: "Whether you've got a history degree or a media relations degree [for example], if you've got a few more specific things on your CV where you have done placements [and] a few temporary jobs that can actually help you." Job hunters were recently advised by the Graduate Recruitment Bureau that CVs should be tailored to each individual employer to make the most impact in the application process.
