It is essential that employees use up their quota of holiday time in order to recuperate and stay productive, it has been claimed. The Advisory, Conciliation and Arbitration Service (Acas), points out that workers are much happier when properly rested, as well as being more beneficial to the company, reports Onrec. A spokesperson for ClickAJob agreed, noting that employees will be more willing to work to the best of their ability if they are confident of reward, which may be of note to graduates. "If you expect employees to be keen, on the ball, and go the extra mile, they need to know their holidays are sacrosanct, a deliberate leisure break to revitalise their commitment," the spokesperson explained. He added that employees should not feel guilty about genuine sick leave either, as workers forcing themselves into the office while ill is "counter-productive".
