Graduate job hunters will find it harder to get into the law industry in 2010 as employers introduce new methods to separate the wheat from the chaff. Recruiters are expecting the number of graduate job applicants to rise next year as those who put off sending in their CVs this year take advantage of the economic upturn. "It's a bit like a pressure cooker at the moment, and next year we're going to see application numbers shoot up with the big backlog of students who've decided to delay their applications," an unnamed graduate recruitment partner at a top 15 firm told The Lawyer. They added that extra testing, more interview rounds and tougher criteria will also come with the boost in candidate numbers and urged graduate job hunters to up their game. Roy Murphy, co-author of Personal Reputation Management: Making the Internet Work for You, recently told the Times that the web is one of the best forums for graduate job hunters to promote their skills to prospective employers.
