'Fourth plinth' man lands graduate job

'Fourth plinth' man lands graduate job An unemployed university leaver who took part in a well-publicised art project in London in order to promote the skills he had to offer has now been offered a graduate job.

Using Anthony Gormley's One & Other installation on the fourth plinth in Trafalgar Square, University of Swansea graduate Alex Kearns displayed a blown-up version of his CV to passers-by and the media watching the stunt.

The International Business Development Group, which is based in London, took notice of the frustrated degree-holder by offering a sales executive position to the 23-year-old after a successful interview.

Alex said of the unusual tactic: "In the current climate you have to work hard to stand out from the crowd. I saw this as a golden opportunity to sell myself."

Fellow graduates from the University of Derby recently eschewed the competitive graduate job market by setting up their own businesses, according to the Derby Telegraph.
