More than 1,000 graduate jobs and student placements are to be made available at PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) in 2010, it has been confirmed. Under the company's latest graduate recruitment plans, hundreds of positions are to be made available in its business advisory and tax divisions, as well as its assurance practice department. Alongside general graduate training programmes, PwC will also provide specialist pathways leading to relevant qualifications in strategy consulting or actuarial business, while 100 new graduate jobs will be offered as the company looks to continue its management consulting growth strategy. At the same time, it has also been confirmed that 200 internship vacancies, including special consulting internship programmes, will be rolled out over 2010, with Ian Powel, chairman and senior partner at PwC, explaining that this increased investment in talent makes sound financial sense in a time of recession. "It would short-change our business in the recovery if we failed to maintain our investment and confidence in graduate skills now," he explained. PwC, which was recently named as one of the Times Top 100 Graduate Employers, has also revealed that, in its 2009 graduate jobs drive, 40 per cent of its new recruits held degrees in subjects other than business and economics.
