Prudential expands its development and training programme

Prudential plc, the UK based international finances provider, has announced that it will be extending its leadership development programme.

The company's "Momentum" programme will take on another 17 participants this year, bringing the total number to 37 people working across the UK, Asia and the US. This programme takes high-performing individuals who have worked in any branch of the company for 3 to 5 years, and puts them on the course to become one of the firms leadership team within a decade through sales management training and other learning opportunities.

Participants receive intensive training and experience opportunities over the course of four to six years, in three different rotational assignments. They will work in finance sales jobs, HR positions, commercial sales management and corporate communications.

The firm hopes that it will change the way employees view talent development. By offering a structured programme for talented individuals to make the most of their ability to increase sales, learn from training and advance their careers, Prudential hopes to encourage ambition among all of its workers. It also aims to improve its popularity as a graduate recruiter.

Prudential's group chief executive, Tidjane Thiam, said "the long term future of our company primarily depends on our ability to recruit and create opportunities for talented young people. I am a strong supporter of the momentum programme and take a personal interest in each participants career path".

This year the programme received double the number of applicants as last year, with applications coming from nearly 50 different countries.
