Recruiters need training to 'better business skills'

Recruiters need training to 'better business skills' An expert has said that those in the recruitment industry lack skills in business sense and need training in order to improve their performance.

Fiona Lander, managing director of training firm Lander Associates, told Onrec.com that, especially during a recession, those working in recruitment companies need to know which vacancies are beneficial.

Many recruiters are given training in core skills such as sales and on-boarding of staff, but more needs to be done to ensure that they know how to be "better business people", according to Lander.

She told the news provider: "Simple business thinking at desk level can make a real and measurable difference to success, particularly now. Similarly business development needs a planned business approach."

Creating graduate jobs and boosting training will help get Ireland on the road to economic recovery, according to Stephen Kinsella, a lecturer in economics at the University of Limerick writing in the Times.
