Companies hoping to secure a positive turnover in today's turbulent economy need to make sure their sales training systems are effective. That is according to Wayne Gratton, director of technology at Avnet Technology Solutions, who claimed that a mix of tried and tested sales training techniques and utilisation of new computer-based tools is necessary. "It is important to combine traditional classroom-style training courses with networking events for strategic learning and hands-on training. Online and remote training is flexible and cost-effective," Mr Gratton explained. Speaking to CRN, the sales training specialist added that marketing teams need to possess confidence and speaking skills if they are to succeed in obtaining buyers during the recession. "Feedback from our partners suggests that confidence is one of the most valuable takeaways," he said. Joe Marr, sales and management consultant and trainer in the US, recently recommended that sales training should teach employees to listen to customers' needs in order to become better marketers, AnnArbor.com reported.
