Tesco to increase graduate jobs

Tesco to increase graduate jobs A sign that the recession is lifting has come in the form of a supermarket giant announcing that more people will be able to take up graduate jobs with it next year.

Tesco welcomed 191 university leavers onto its 15 graduate job schemes last week, but the 2010/11 batch of applicants will now have the choice of 17 different areas as the firm plans to boost these numbers.

Those looking for graduate jobs in telecommunications and engineering, as well as graduates with management, merchandising and finance, may want to send their CVs into the retail firm.

Lorna Bryson, head of UK resourcing for Tesco, said: "Opportunities for graduates within retail are extensive, and with some large employers cutting back on graduate recruitment for 2010, our schemes offer a wide range of opportunities to next year's graduates."

Sainsbury's graduate recruitment manager Jo Gidley recently told People Management that the fast-moving consumer goods industry is proving to be a bastion for employment in the current economic climate.
