Employers who make the most of staff training and development opportunities will be likely to win awards at a ceremony in Huddersfield this year, according to reports. The Huddersfield Examiner claims that its Business Awards 2009 will see employers emerge victorious if they can show how they have invested in improving the skills of their staff through training. Last year saw Brigford-based Ploughcroft Building Services take the coveted Employer of the Year award and those hoping to do the same for the upcoming competition will have an equal understanding of the importance of training, the newspaper said. A spokesperson explained: "Entrants will be asked to show why workforce development and training is important to the organisation, how training needs and skills requirements are assessed and addresses and the direct benefit gained by both individuals and the organisation." Used car company West Coast Cars, situated in the north-west of England, recently told the Times and Star how sales training helped raise the productivity of the business.
