Unite calls for green engineering jobs for graduates

Unite calls for green engineering jobs for graduates Those looking for graduate engineering jobs after leaving university this summer may be interested in comments from one union, which says that investment in green energy could create engineering positions across the UK.

Unite, one of the largest unions in Britain, spoke at the New Energy Brings New Opportunity conference yesterday (June 22nd) about the 10,000 engineering jobs that could be created and taken up by any graduates interested in the roles.

The union recommended government funding for the harnessing of nuclear power and carbon capture technology as a way to stimulate the economy and provide valuable employment.

Dougie Rooney, national officer for Unite, said: "The demand for components and equipment from power generation companies gives UK manufacturing companies huge opportunities to expand."

Construction News recently reported that employers at the Sustainable Innovation in Refrigeration and Air Conditioning networking meeting were told of the benefits of graduate engineering schemes to help them get work experience personnel.
