Various schemes have been launched by Liverpool Hope University in order to help those in the north-west land themselves a graduate job. The higher education establishment's Business Gateway programme has been involved in various schemes, including the creation of links between graduates and businesses through Economic Challenge Investment Fund subsidies. According to the Liverpool Daily Post, those shunning the graduate jobs market to set up their own business will also receive help through a scheme led by the National Council for Graduate Entrepreneurship. Dr Martin Carey Business Gateway chief executive said: "Never has it been more important to support graduates into work and setting up businesses - they are a critical element of the country's recovery and the future of our region." The Department of Work and Pensions recently launched the website of its Graduate Talent Pool, which expects to see up to 6,000 internships posted in the next few weeks.
